Abdominoplasty, also known as a tummy tuck, is a procedure that can help firm and tighten your abdomen to give a flatter, smoother appearance. Many women experience changes in their abdomen as they age. With weight changes and childbearing, many women develop a lower abdominal "pooch" that no amount of weight loss or exercise will fix. In addition, our abdominal muscles or "6-pack" spread so they are no longer aligned causing laxity or looseness of the lower abdomen. An abdominoplasty may help to address these problems. An abdominoplasty or tummy tucks works by removing the excess skin and fat from the lower abdomen from the belly button to the pubic bone. This may also remove those bothersome stretch marks. The upper abdomen then gets pulled downward flattening the entire abdomen. In addition, a series of stitches is placed on the inside from the ribs to the pubis which tightens the muscles bringing them into normal alignment much like an internal corset. Although much of the surgery is done under the surface, the only incisions seen are around the belly button and a separate incision low in the pubic hairline from hip to hip. This incision is hidden by underwear or a bikini.
Breasts are one of the most distinguishing features of a woman's body. Unfortunately for some, a disproportionate bust line can cause their waist to appear larger and leave them looking heavier than they really are. Breast augmentation is the surgical procedure that can add volume by using breast implants to create a more attractive, natural appearance. In addition, breast surgery can be used to accomplish many reconstructive measures such as balancing oddly sized or shaped breasts.
Whether you are considering breast enlargement surgery to obtain a look that aesthetically fulfills your ideal shape or have breasts that were left less firm due to pregnancy, breastfeeding, aging or fluctuations in weight, our doctors can explain your options to restore a more natural shape to your appearance. Either way, breast augmentation surgery can dramatically improve your body's contour and give you a renewed sense of femininity.
A Mastopexy, or breast lift, is a popular surgical procedure used to return sagging breasts to their more youthful position. At Parkway Plastic Surgery, our surgeons lift the breasts by removing skin and tighten the underlying breast tissue to reshape and improve your breast contour and firmness.
Depending upon the degree of sagging, breast lift surgery may include the removal of excess skin from around the areola and from the bottom of the breast to tighten the skin. In doing so, the position of the nipple can be elevated for a more youthful appearance while the volume of the breasts are reduced to produce a smoother look to the skin.
Breast augmentation with mastopexy is a popular procedure provided by our surgeons at Parkway Plastic Surgery. Although implants may help lift the breast by increasing their volume, some women choose to have a breast lift, or mastopexy, in conjunction with their decision for breast augmentation.
Depending upon the degree of sagging, a number of different techniques can be used during breast augmentation and breast lift surgery. These may include the removal of excess skin from around the areola and from the bottom of the breast to tighten the skin when the implant device is inserted. In doing so, the position of the nipple can be elevated for a more youthful appearance while the added volume produces a smoothing of the skin.
Breast cancer is the most common cancer among women in the United States. One in eight women is expected to develop breast cancer within their lifetime. Many women undergo mastectomy or lumpectomy and radiation to treat this disease. Reconstruction of the breast is often needed to help reconstruct one or both breasts in order to achieve better symmetry. This may be done at the time of mastectomy (immediate reconstruction) or sometime later (delayed reconstruction). Sometimes adjunctive therapy like chemotherapy or radiation may delay your reconstruction. We want to make sure to treat the cancer first and then do the reconstruction so as not to delay the cancer treatment. Radiation may also change the plan of reconstruction as radiation changes the ability of the skin to stretch or sometimes changes the size or shape of the breast. By talking with the doctors at Parkway Plastic Surgery, we will decide together which reconstruction is best for you. Even if it is 10 years after your initial diagnosis, you can still undergo breast reconstruction or improve the original reconstruction as your body and needs change with time. Health insurance now covers not only reconstruction on your affected breast, but also reconstruction of the other breast in order to achieve better symmetry. There is no time limit for breast reconstruction.
Breast reduction, also known as reduction mammaplasty, is a surgical procedure that decreases the volume and weight of the breasts as well as lifts the breasts to restore a more youthful appearance. Many women seek breast reduction to relieve symptoms of back pain, neck pain, bra strap grooving and rashes under the breasts. Breast reduction differs from a mastopexy (breast lift) in some distinct ways. Although both procedures lift the breast, a breast reduction also removes a larger amount of tissue to relieve the symptoms listed previously.
Blepharoplasty, also called eyelid surgery, is a popular choice for individuals wishing to correct drooping upper eyelids and puffy bags from beneath the eyes. Parkway Plastic Surgery is your experienced North Florida provider for correcting the problems with your eyelids that make you look tired or older than you really are.
Eyelid surgery usually involves the removal and sometimes the redistribution of fat pockets, excess skin and muscle tissue from the upper and lower eyelids. Expression muscles can be strengthened to erase the wrinkles and tone can be added to provide a more youthful appearance.
As we age, our face changes. The fat which once sat high on our cheekbones descends downward and our skin develops wrinkles and loses its smooth appearance. Sometimes nonsurgical treatments including Botox, fillers, skin care and lasers can help address these problems, but at times a facelift is the best solution. A facelift is truly a face and neck lift. It brings the fat and underlying tissues (SMAS) to a higher position on the face and it also smooths and tightens the skin. The most common areas of the face which are addressed include the cheeks, deep folds between the nose and corners of the mouth (nasolabial folds), the jawline and the neck. Sometimes we will add other procedures to the facelift including fat injections, peels and eyelid or brow procedures to address other concerns. Each individual is different. At Parkway Plastic Surgery, we will guide you in determining the best procedure for you.
A forehead lift is a surgical procedure offered by Parkway Plastic Surgery that restores a more youthful look to the area above the eyebrows. Frown lines and drooping brows can cause men and women to look older than they feel. When you look in the mirror, do you appear to be tired, angry or sad? If so, you may be a candidate for a forehead lift.
Our surgeons can smooth the forehead skin by raising your eyebrows and minimizing your frown lines. In addition to fighting the aging process, forehead surgery may be the answer to inherited facial problems above the brow or other problems caused by injury or illness. A forehead lift is often done in conjunction with other facial surgery to optimize the way you look and feel.
Liposuction or suction lipectomy is often performed to remove excess fat in many different areas of the body. Some of the more common areas include the abdomen and hips, inner and outer thigh, arms and neck, but liposuctions can address fatty areas in almost all parts of the body. Liposuction works to slim down and improve the shape of an area of the body. Although you may not notice a change in your weight on the scale, you will notice a difference in the shape of your curves and how you fit into clothing. Liposuction works the best in patients who have a stubborn area of fat that no matter what diet or exercise program they use, they still have an area of fat that will not improve. The most common method of liposuction used is the tumescent technique. This technique works by first infusing fluid into the area which contains an analgesic or numbing medicine as well as an agent to decrease bleeding. Liposuction is then performed in the same area to remove the fat with very little blood loss. New liposuction techniques are constantly being invented. Although these new trends each have their own merit, many of them all still have the same final result. At Parkway Plastic Surgery, we stay up to date with the newest trends and will help you figure out which procedure will best serve your needs.
At Parkway Plastic Surgery, a "nose job" or Rhinoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that is a delicate blend of our artistry and our advanced understanding of the latest surgical technology. This common form of cosmetic surgery requires a plastic surgeon with a thorough knowledge of the human physiology and a keen surgical eye.
Sometimes rhinoplasty may be a necessary procedure to eliminate breathing problems caused by injury or birth defect. Other patients just want to enhance the shape and size of their nose. Whatever the reason, rhinoplasty can drastically alter both your facial appearance and the functionality of your nose.
Botox® Cosmetic is FDA-approved and has been used safely for more than ten years by our medical providers at Parkway Plastic Surgery of Jacksonville to treat a variety of cosmetic conditions. The popular injectable targets the facial wrinkles and frown lines that accentuate an appearance of being tired, angry or stressed. As one of Nature's most potent nerve blockers, this purified protein is used in low doses to relax overactive facial muscles and remove unwanted signs of aging and sun damage.
Cosmetic injections are typically administered in the upper third of the face as a temporary treatment for forehead wrinkles, frown lines between the eyebrows and crow's feet around the eyes. Once the Botox solution takes effect, your face will appear more youthful and your skin will be free of fine lines for three to four months following the procedure.
Sun exposure, acne or just getting older can leave your skin tone uneven, wrinkled, spotted or scarred. If you want your skin to look smoother and younger, consider a chemical peel, which uses a chemical solution to smooth the texture of your skin by removing the damaged outer layers. A chemical peel, also called chemexfoliation or derma peeling, is one of the least invasive ways to improve the appearance of your skin. Although chemical peels are used mostly on the face, they can also be used to improve the skin on your neck and hands. You can improve:
Selphyl, which is platlet-rich plasma that has been used for many years in medicine, is now being used as an injectable filler for cosmetic use. This all-natural substance is being used by Dr. David Mobley here at Parkway Plastic Surgery to improve facial wrinkles.
The Selphyl System, when used with fat grafting procedures, can improve fat cell survival and potentially allow for longer-lasting and more dependable results, lasting anywhere from 6 months to several years.
If you're searching for the best way to reverse the signs of natural aging, or to smooth uneven skin contours, dermal fillers have revolutionized today's medical approach. Injectable treatments offer an enticing alternative to more invasive surgical procedures and can correct asymmetry, reduce bags and circles under the eyes, improve acne scars and repair sun-damaged skin.
As your skin is exposed to the sun and other environmental pollutants, your cells gradually begin to dehydrate and lose hyaluronic acid. In turn, that can cause collagen and other fibers to lose their elasticity and structure. Noticeable results for improving such conditions can often be attained in less than an hour with JUVÉDERM® facial treatments designed to smooth facial contours and revitalize dehydrated skin.
Spider veins in the lower extremities can be treated through sclerotherapy. An injection into dilated veins causes them to collapse and gradually disappear over time, possibly eliminating the need for more invasive surgery.

Are you looking for a non-surgical way to freshen and rejuvenate the skin on your face? Microdermabrasion treatments, a less aggressive approach than dermabrasion, make use of a minimally abrasive instrument to gently sand the skin, removing the thicker, uneven outer layer. This type of skin rejuvenation is used to treat light scarring, discoloration and sun damage and there's even microdermabrasion for stretch marks. Imagine a very fine sand blaster and you'll get a picture of how microdermabrasion works. It uses microparticles, or a diamond-tipped wand, to slough off the top layer (epidermis) of your skin and stimulate new skin growth. This technique also helps to thicken your collagen, which results in a younger looking complexion. Collagen is a protein in your skin that's abundant when you're a child and makes skin appear taut and smooth. Collagen production declines as we age, resulting in looser, uneven skin. There is almost no discomfort in microdermabrasion, meaning you won't need a topical or local anesthetic and there is no recovery or downtime. Contact Parkway Plastic Surgery for more information about our Microdermabrasion Procedures in Jacksonville, Florida.
Micropigmentation (permanent makeup) is an exciting medical procedure used to improve appearance and help change your outlook on life. It is used a lash liner, eyeliner, eyebrow or lip enhancement. Additionally, it is used a camouflage for scars, replacing pigment lost from vitiligo and as an imitation of hair. The procedure can put the finishing touch on the reconstructed breast with the addition of a nipple/areola. Permanent makeup can achieve miracles physically emotionally.
Your may want to consider permanent makeup if you:
RADIESSE® is an injectable, volumizing facial filler comprised of calcium-based microspheres in a natural gel used for volume restoration and skin rejuvenation. As you age, the tissues that keep your skin looking young and supple begin to break down. Unfortunately, the negative impact of aging and years of exposure to the sun's damaging rays tend to show up first and foremost on the face. This can leave you looking older than you feel with an angry or troubled expression.
Similar to using hyaluronic acid, fat or collagen-based fillers, our medical providers can administer Radiesse gel injections that provide an instant increase in skin volume and reduce the appearance of wrinkles, folds and other skin contours. However, when Radiesse is used to augment soft tissues, the base component of filler stimulates your body's own natural collagen production. So, Radiesse injections can produce results that are fast, effective and longer lasting.
Looking for a non-surgical procedure that will keep you looking your best? Restylane is an injectable facial filler that uses a hyaluronic acid gel genetically engineered to reduce the effects of aging and to reshape certain facial contours. It can effectively add volume to the lips, cheeks and areas around the eyes as well as improve the appearance of deep crevices, fine lines and acne scars. Good candidates include men and women looking for a dermal filler that is considerably more durable than collagen or fat injections.
When your face loses its youthful appearance and becomes etched with fine lines, creases and folds, it can leave you looking older than you are. Since Restylane is a natural component of the skin, it has distinct advantages over most traditional fillers in keeping facial skin plump and supple. Treatments are quick, easy and produce immediate results that are noticeable but don't leave you looking like you just had a cosmetic surgery.
