Harry J. Galinski is the owner-operator of Personal Sound Hearing Aid Center. He is a Board Certified Hearing Instrument Specialist and a member of the International Hearing Society and the Illinois Hearing Society. He is licensed by the Illinois Department of Public Health.
He has been fitting hearing aids since 1977 when he began his career working as a Hearing Aid Consultant for a nationally franchised hearing aid center. He founded Personal Sound Hearing Aid Center in 1983 and is now one of the most long-established expert hearing aid dispensers in the country.
Through the years, he has helped thousands of people improve their hearing and their lives with the use of custom-fitted hearing aids.
He takes great satisfaction knowing that in addition to the numerous people he has personally fitted with hearing aids, he has also been able to help many others who had previously purchased hearing aids elsewhere but had been dissatisfied with the results.
Personal Sound is (and always has been) a multi-line hearing aid dealership.
The primary advantage of this is that we’re not locked into or committed to any one particular brand or type of hearing aids. When a dispensary handles only a single brand, they are usually under contract with the manufacturer and are only permitted to sell from a single line of products. Unfortunately, no single manufacturer has a product line complete enough to “cover all the bases” (so to speak) in terms of products offered, levels of quality and technology, varying degrees of pricing, etc.
Being a multi-line dealership allows us to continually shop around (on the customer’s behalf) for better and/or oftentimes more affordable products.
We also repair all makes and models of hearing aids, regardless of where purchased and most repairs are performed in-house with same day service. Repaired aids are restored to original factory specifications in most cases.
We also carry all types of accessories including batteries (regular and rechargeable), recharger units, earmolds, eartips, receivers, amplified telephones, TV listening devices, cleaning tools, cases, dehumidifiers and a host of other items.
When you come in for your consultation, I'll first introduce myself and ask you to fill out a simple form. Then we'll talk for a little while while I gather some information about any hearing difficulties you may be experiencing. Then we'll take a look in your ear canals with a video otoscope (a miniature camera) to be sure that they appear to be clear and relatively healthy looking. If everything looks reasonably well, we'll proceed with a simple hearing test after which I'll explain the results and make my recommendations. (There is absolutely no charge for anything we do up to this point.)
If it turns out that you don't need hearing aids, I'll congratulate you, wish you well and bid you adieu until next time (annual testing is usually a good idea).
On the other hand, if it appears that you might be a good candidate for hearing aids, we can then proceed with the fitting process if you wish.
Your new hearing aids will usually be ready in about a week or less!
We specialize in selling and servicing custom-fitted hearing aids designed and manufactured just for you!
We also sell and provide service for non-custom hearing aids.
Your hearing aids can be adjusted to assure you obtain the best possible results.
We conduct all necessary testing right here on our premises.
Earmolds, earplugs, batteries, cases, dehumidifiers, TV and telephone devices, etc.
If we don't have it we can usually get it for you in just a day or two.
Repairs on all makes and models. Same day service for most problems.
As much as I'd like to, I can't help you much online or over the telephone. You'll need to come in to my office and when you do come in, I recommend that you bring someone with you. Experience has shown me that most people feel a lot more comfortable when there's a concerned family member or close friend present during the consultation. I'll be happy to answer any and all questions you might have, show you the different types of hearing aids and point out the pros and cons of each model.
